Taylor and Pete tied the knot at Alderbrook Resort, a place near and dear to my heart. Hood Canal is where my paternal grandfather bought our family beach house before I was born and is where my aunt and my 90 year old uncle now live (just a short 10 minutes from the venue). Over the years, we’ve frequented Alderbrook regularly to practice yoga, sit in the outdoor jacuzzis and have margaritas.
This part of Washington sparks a connection with nature but also a feeling of contentment. Something about shucking oysters at Hama Hama, hiking through the Olympic National Forest, and the smell of the canal brings you into the moment.
Despite the large guest count, there was no stress. Taylor and Pete’s day honored what wedding days should be all about; a chance to celebrate the couple, their families, and friends, topped off with pie and a wild dance party. Most notable part of the day was when Tay and Pete performed “You Make My Dreams” by Daryl Hall & John Oates. After months of private guitar lessons from Pete, these two pulled off an epic show leaving all their guests cheering and smiling from ear to ear.
As you scroll, you’ll catch a glimpse of calligraphy crafted by the bride’s mom, Drindy Gier. If you’ve ever seen the Rosanna dishes in a small boutique or Nordstrom, Drindy is the mastermind behind these colorful hand drawings. It was so neat to see her creations first hand as I have admired her work for a long time. I actually grew up very close to this this family and as a kid, Drindy was my art docent and Taylor’s sister, Holland, is a close friend of mine to this day. In middle school and high school I spent countless hours at the Flemings’ jumping on their trampoline, playing Mario Kart, and crafting away in Drindy’s art studio. So neat to see Drindy’s artistic talent sprinkled around the venue in the form of programs, signs and other decor. The watercolor went along just perfectly with floral designs by Edelweiss Floral and other design elements by Megan Sophie Holman.
