Arch Cape Elopement | Oregon Coast | Jane + Scott

January 11, 2022

I am mesmerized by the coast. The muted tones, the wind, the ever changing tide, the colorful sunsets and the endless horizon line. This evening was full of warmth, and play, and Jane’s windswept cape that she made from a veil. In just two brief hours we were able to capture the ceremony and portraits effortlessly; the ease of the evening gave me a glimpse of why elopements are so unique and special. This Arch Cape elopement made me realize how much I enjoy the intimacy of a small celebration. The root of why we get married is to honor what two people have found in one another. A sentiment that may seem simple, but one that carries great depth. All I know is that you don’t need all the gaudy decor or hundreds of guests to celebrate love. Something simple can be enough.

Arch Cape is located just south of Cannon Beach, and is much more private. It’s the perfect place to elope without having to navigate through big crowds and the chaos of a tourism. With that said, if you do elope or visit this part of the coast for fun, I’d still highly recommend paying a visit to Cannon Beach for at least a day or two. It is much more bustling than other areas on the coast but for good reason. There are art galleries, really impressively tasty places to eat, and the infamous Haystack Rock. I actually spent every summer here as a kid when I used to live in Seattle. My family would make the trip down to Cannon Beach, then Eugene and then finish our trip in Bandon. 32 years later, I still love coming to this part of Oregon. In fact, I think it’s our favorite weekend getaway. Evan and I will drive to the Oregon Coast in the middle of winter and still enjoy walking on the beach, even if it’s pouring rain outside. Like I mentioned above, there is something so mesmerizing about the endless horizon lines, ever changing tide and the colorful sunsets. Even in the heart of winter, you can still experience all these facets of Oregon’s coastline.

Putting it out into the universe that I’d like to photograph more elopements like this one. If you’re eloping on the coast or considering doing so, don’t hesitate to reach out and we can plan something just as beautiful as Jane and Scott’s Arch Cape elopement. But first check out the below images! They are quite beautiful.
