This Crown Point engagement session is easily one of my favorites because of the evident connection these two share in their photos. There is a romantic and sentimental vibe in the way these two interact and I can’t believe it’s taken me a year to share this Columbia Gorge magic.
Casie and Luke drove down to Portland from Seattle for their engagement session last May, which had me really excited considering I had only lived in the area for under a year. I had scouted out this part of the gorge for over an hour, the morning of their session, and was eager to return back with them at sunset.
I love that you can find waterfalls, and lookouts and doable hikes, all within an hour of Portland. Also, shooting at a higher elevation, gives way to more extreme elements like wind, which in this case, breathed life into Casie’s hair, dress, and even Luke’s suit jacket. Plus the sunset was insanely beautiful.
We shot all the way until literal darkness, when photos became blurry and grain became enviable. I love when shoots end this way because I can cover such a wide range of lighting and the mood shifts and pivots as the hours progress.
Casie and Luke had plans to celebrate their nuptials this May at Kiana Lodge, but unfortunately had to postpone to 2021 because of Covid-19. They have been so positive throughout this transition but I can’t help but feel sad that they had to compromise their plans. I’m sending these two a lot of love, knowing that their original date is a few weeks away. Looking forward to celebrating twice as hard next year!
